Yesterday was a day of celebration in our house as Barrie's family joined us for dinner to celebrate his mothers birthday. But it was also a day of remembering as her birthday is also on the anniversary of D-Day. She turned 21 that day back in 1944 when 160,000 troops took part in the largest single day amphibious landing of all time. To all those like his father who served our country thank you.

Well done Kathy. We should all remember. If affects me every time I see the people on the bridges over the highway honoring the fallen coming home.
I worry about my son's friend who is training right now in Halifax to become a medic. I'm hoping that by the time he graduates from university as a nurse the battles will be over ... but I doubt it.
Janice - unfortunately I also doubt it
